Journey for the Heart | September 14, 2017
More than 700 friends of the Lima Memorial Foundation went on a creative Journey for the Heart at Warehouse Associates LP.
Guests enjoyed an evening full of artistic delights, including observing live artists and savoring a unique blend of food and drink while networking with friends. Thanks to outstanding participation in the fund-a-need and silent, live and art auctions, more than $700,000 was raised that will be directly invested into our heart program.
The outpouring of support will allow us to bring the most sophisticated heart rhythm management capabilities to the region, expand services for individuals with congestive heart failure, provide the most advanced cardiac imaging and support systems and give our expert team of cardiologists and cardiothoracic & vascular surgeons access to the very best resources to care for our community.
Thank you to the countless individuals and businesses who made our vision a reality!

2017 Funding Priority
You never stop to think how important it really is to have access to advanced cardiac care, close to home. Not until you need it.
Through community support, combined with our expert cardiac team, Lima Memorial has built a center of excellence when it comes to heart care. Our cardiac team is constantly focused on new innovations that will improve healthcare delivery and provide outstanding patient outcomes.
Lima Memorial is seeking funding to bring the most sophisticated heart rhythm management capabilities to our community. Leveraging our relationship with The Ohio State University Heart & Vascular Center, our expert team of physicians will be able to perform the most intricate electrophysiology procedures of the heart.
Remaining a leader in cardiac care also means having access to the best tools for the job. Additional funding is needed to support our open-heart and cardiac catheterization programs with the most advanced imaging and support systems.

THE ART AND HEART CONNECTION
There has always been a colorful history between art and the heart. Artists like Da Vinci, Degas and Picasso used countless palettes of heart and soul to create world-renowned pieces that still capture our imaginations to this day. However, art has proven healing effects on the physical heart as well. Excessive stress can lead to major heart health concerns, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and damaged artery walls from stress-induced smoking. Painting and other artistic activities have been shown to relieve stress and allow individuals to work through emotions that may be causing internal damage. Artistic activities reduce the risk for worsening and developing heart conditions, demonstrating the boundless power that art has on the body and mind.

MEET OUR EMCEE : EDDIE SAUNDERS
Father. Husband. Business Owner. Singer / Songwriter. Billboard Guy. Former MMA fighter. These are some of the many things one could call Eddie Saunders. But underneath it all, Eddie is just a small town guy who grew out of his fishbowl. His humble beginnings starting in Anna, Ohio, have taken him on many adventures, eventually leading to Lima where he attended UNOH and obtained his degree in marketing, something he feels he was born to do.
Since UNOH, Eddie has become quite connected to the Lima community. Along with being a board member for the Lima Young Professionals group, he also has served on the Lima United Way’s Community Investment Board and is part of the Goodwill Easter Seals Lima Advisory Council. He takes much pride in being a part of a rising community.
When it comes to family, Eddie couldn’t be any more blessed. One thing Eddie is most proud of is being a father to his two daughters, Layla and McKayla, and his newborn son, Samuel. He also wouldn’t be half the man he is today if it weren’t for his strong, amazing and loving wife, Michelle.
Professionally, Eddie co-manages a small Ohio billboard company called Comstor Outdoor where he oversees over 380 faces throughout Northwestern and Southwestern Ohio. He also serves a separate book of business under his personal reputation management entity, They Call Me Eddie LLC, where he manages social media profiles and content for a select few business clients.
Above all things, Eddie is a fan of fun and has big ambitions to be the best husband, father and leader that he can be. With family and leadership at the heart of his life goals, Eddie looks forward to helping lead the community toward a healthier future for cardiac care.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Caring for our community.
We believe our community deserves access to world-class health care and the tools to live a healthy lifestyle. That’s why the Lima Memorial Foundation takes an active role in advancing the health of our community through philanthropy.
Over the years, the Foundation has been the catalyst for bringing revolutionary technology and enhancements to the Lima region. In 2016, the Lima Memorial Foundation made the early detection of lung cancer a priority, achieving a record-setting profit of $550,000 to purchase the latest in lung cancer diagnostic tools. Lima Memorial Hospital now has access to technology that can detect cancerous nodules at an early and treatable stage. In recent years, with the support of our community, the Foundation contributed the funds needed for:
Timmermeister Family Surgery Center
Simulation and Education Training Center
da Vinci® Surgical Robots
Advanced Lung Cancer Diagnostic Technology
Family Birth Center Expansion
Indian Lake Medical Center Building
Patient and Family Support and Resources
Program and Service Enhancements
Educational and Training Opportunities
We are most grateful to our friends who so willingly invest in the health of our community through philanthropic gifts to the Lima Memorial Foundation. This year, with your support, we are looking forward to bringing significant cardiac advancements to our health system.
